The dark and cool colours suggest that the film is scary, as well as the positioning of the characters and their body language. The time in the corner is showing that it takes place mostly at night, which makes it scarier. The red writing of the title is bright and stands out, the colour red could indicate danger. The hook lines “What happens when you sleep?” And “Don’t see it alone” intrigue the audience and make you want to watch it.

The dark background surrounding the brightly contrasting characters on this poster indicates a dark storyline. The way the two characters in the background are much bigger could suggest superiority and the intensity in the emotions of the characters could suggest that there’s romance in the film. The revealing dark outfit indicates lust, and sexual desire, as appose to the smaller blonde character’s light pink outfit which in contrast to this, could show innocence, which also contrasts with the title “Cruel Intentions’.
